One Year on, our Businesses Story.

One Year on, our Businesses Story.

May 11, 2018

Success doesn't come and find you. You have to go and find it.

365. It doesn't seem like the biggest of numbers but so much can happen in 365 days.

Our little Van Uno came into our lives and I cannot imagine life without her! It has most certainly been a busy year Uno has been around the block, and I mean that in a good way! Now I'm not saying that this year has been a walk in the park, I think with every new business your first year is definitely your biggest learning kerb. I went from working full time in a call centre and admin roll to running my own street food business. One of the biggest questions that we get asked is what training did we have? Our response is a how to guide that came with our food truck! No seriously that was it.

I'm a perfectionist so I have had to learn to take a breath and realise that I'm not going to get it right everytime. This was definitely hard to swallow at the start, unfortunately everyone had to deal with my unwillingness to admit I could possibly make a mistake. We have definitely been to some interesting events both good and bad... The main thing I have learnt is that if you don't try you will never know if it is going to work out. Win, Lose, Draw as Ricky Gervais would say, there is only one way to find out. Being able to merge to of my favourite passions, has been incredible. When we found out we would be working at Longines GCT London we couldn't believe it! We sold out everyday and each day we finished it off with some world class show jumping! Having grown up around horses this was the perfect combo for me. Don't get me wrong not every event has been quite so plain sailing, crazy long hours, horrendous events and you know working with family isn't always as fun as imagined.

We have made some amazing connections along the way and one thing I can say is nearly every Street Food Trader we have come across is super friendly and so helpful. It really is a like a little community. That is one of the things that inspired me to start this Blog. I wanted to learn more about other local businesses around me and I wanted to show love to other people as well. It sounds silly but just one positive comment or review literally makes my day, I know it is the same for other small businesses as well. Another thing I have learnt in the past year it is that it is hard work having a  small business. I read an interesting post today about the Buy a Card Theory. It may just be a card to you, or a simple like or comment, but to us it is you helping us succeed, supporting us in our dreams and it really can turn our day around. Anyway I will stop going on! Thank you so much to anyone who has supported us in anyway. I cannot wait to see where we are this time next year.

Want to come and celebrate with us? We are at The Vic, Hitchin  TONIGHT 11th May for our First Birthday Party! With every Pizza bought it is your chance to win A YEARS FREE PIZZA! So pop down and say hello, we can't wait to see you all!

For anyone thinking of taking the dive into the Street Food World, I say DO IT! Yes it is hard work but it is also the funnest and most varied job I've ever had. Each day is different and I can quite honestly say there has never been a dull day! If you would like any advice then don't be afraid to reach out to us, if not NCASS is a great starting point. That is where we first started.
