If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff.
Ratatouille can we firstly take a moment to remember what a great film this is?! This may seem totally random but that is where the quote above comes from! Now I don't learn all of my life lessons from Disney Films but the ones that I do, they definitely stick!
This Bank Holiday Weekend I made sure that I lived by this (I worked on Saturday so my Weekend started on the Sunday!) On Sunday we started our Day with this INCREDIBLE Banana and Chocolate Chip Stuffed French Toast, rolled in cinnamon sugar and drizzled (maybe drowned) in Maple Syrup. See Recipe Below.
I apologise for making you hungry in advance with this post! Bank Holiday Monday was where the real fun happened (I didn't have to cook) we took a trip down to Camden Market.
I haven't been to Camden for years and honestly I DO NOT know why it has taken us so long to return. We had so much fun! I literally felt like I was on Holiday (28C weather may have helped) but the quirky shops, all of the fresh juice and food. It was AMAZING ! We spent a lot of time walking around to build up our appetites for what I knew was going to be a Feast. It was a good job that we did!
Kerb food markets in London are so amazing, but they also makes them almost unbearable. Wth so much choice comes great responsibility I mean what do you choose?? Thankfully our choices did not disappoint; but I cannot wait to go back to sample more! I promise there was two of us to get through this feast! See below for details!
A trip to Camden Market would not be complete without checking out the awesome Chin Chin Lab. I have a real thing for good ice cream and they definitely didn't disappoint. We kept it very simple (we may have eaten way too much before!) with Tonka Bean Vanilla Ice Cream with Honeycomb. What made me love the place more was the tip jar can it be any funnier?
Anywayyy I got hugely distracted by Food (no change there!) Please see below for the recipe for that DELISH Stuffed French Toast.
For the French Toast
2 Slices of Thick Sliced Fresh White Bread
1 Large Beaten Egg
Splash of Milk
1tsp Vanilla Essence
Sprinkle of Cinnamon
Pinch of Sea Salt
Nob of Butter
For the Filling
1 Sliced Banana
Handful of High Quality Chocolate Chips
For the Cinnamon Sugar
3 Tbsp Caster Sugar
1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
Start by combining the egg, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and salt in a shallow wide dish. Once all of the ingredients are combined add the slices of bread to the bowl. Leave the bread to soak up all of the eggy goodness. Ensure that both sides have had time to soak everything up.
Before stuffing your bread, heat up your frying pan over a medium heat with a nob of butter.
Place the Bananas and chocolate chips on one slice of the bread. Add the other slice of bread on top of the other slice, press down the edges all around the stuffing.
Place the bread into the pre heated pan and cook for around 2-3 minutes on each side or until each side is golden brown.
Remove from the pan and place on a board / rack. Combine the sugar and cinnamon on a plate. Roll the French Toast in the sugar mixture to fully coat, any leftover sugar sprinkle on top.
Cut the Cinnamon Coated French Toast and place on a plate and drizzle (more likely drench) your french toast in Maple Syrup. ENJOY!
